Welcome to Dajory Murray Greys

About Us

Like all great Stud’s there is a story behind Dajory, starting with the name which comes from the first two letters of each of Keith McRae’s three grandchildren who own the stud; Daniel, Josh & Ryan McRae. The Dajory stud was founded in 1998 when “Grandpa” Keith (pictured right) bought 10 Murray Grey Stud cattle to give the boys an interest.

With strong support from mum Carolyne and Grandpa, the McRae boys have grown Dajory to become one of the largest Murray Grey Studs in the region.

Dajory Breeding Programme

The ongoing investment in genetics along with selective breeding through AI and Embryo programmes has produced outstanding results culminating in a “Supreme Exhibit” win at the Royal Melbourne Show for the best heifer where the Weekly Times reported judge Jack Woodburn as saying; “You could paint her any colour and she would stand up. Breeders should use the genetic superiority in this cow to move the breed along”.

Our programme focuses on producing modern Murray Greys with outstanding performance traits;

  • Explosive Growth
  • Large Frame
  • High Fertility
  • Milk
  • Do ability
  • Low birth weights
  • Calving Ease
  • Docility

Our Customers

Many of our customers are repeat customers; we supply both Stud and Commercial producers with affordable genetics and the ability to benefit from our ongoing investment in the Murray Grey breed.

Commercial breeders using our genetics achieve improved return on investment through larger framed animals which develop faster and hence shorten the “time to market”, while at the same time increasing the $/head.

More and more stud breeders are also using our genetics to enhance their own breeding programmes.

Winning the Royal Melbourne Show was indeed a highlight; we also exhibit at numerous rural shows throughout Victoria where we have also had great success.

Carcass competitions, such as Bendigo Beef Expo where we’ve had great success three years in a row, are also very important to us and prove the commercial return possible from using our genetics as part of your own breeding programme.
